She Does Digital is an initiative set up by a collective of people working across Epiphany who want to encourage more women into the industry and raise awareness of the careers available to them.
This unique collaboration between She Does Digital and Hey! brings together two initiatives which are passionate about all things digital and supporting women in the digital industry in Leeds.
We’re using this year’s festival to extend our reach beyond our regular audiences and to inspire our networks to join forces to inspire and encourage more women into the industry.
Leeds Digital Festival is the North’s largest digital festival and runs from the 16th to the 27th April. It hosts over 130 events across two weeks around the city of Leeds.
We are very proud to be part of the festival again this year. The festival was a pivotal launch pad for She Does Digital when we hosted our very first event three years ago. Since then, we have grown organically and developed the initiative into what it is today.
This year, we’re going to be tackling the idea of overcoming insecurities, being brave and taking risks. We have five fantastic speakers from across the digital industry in Leeds who have all been there, done that and have the success stories to show for it.
The evening should promise to inspire, motivate and prove that fear of failure should never stop you from achieving your goals and doing what you want to do.
Our speaker line-up includes:
Speaker: Kimberley Bottomley, Head of CX at Cocoon and Organiser at NUX, @freedbydesign
Kimberley has been in the UX Design field for over 10 years. Having led UX teams in large FTSE 100 companies for most of that time, she stepped away from corporate life in December 2014 to be Head of Customer Experience for Cocoon, a smart home security start-up based in Leeds.
Kimberley is incredibly passionate about Lean UX and collaborative, creative processes. She also arranges meet-ups and conferences in the North of England for people interested in UX and outside of work practices yoga and is learning to surf.
Speaker: Gintare Gervyte, Conversion Rate Optimisation Analyst, Epiphany, @Garbane
Having taken a non-traditional route into digital, our very own Ginny has worked in a genetics lab, owned a blog, been a STEM ambassador and worked in a digital agency prior to her current role at Epiphany.
Working as a Conversion Rate Optimisation Analyst at Epiphany, Ginny combines her science and psychology knowledge to analyse user behaviour, website performance and much more to create and utilise strategies which eventually help to shift and improve on-site user behaviour. Being a part of the She Does Digital team is close to her heart, and the team’s collective work is extremely important due to the gender gap within the digital industry.
Speaker: Christina Xu, Director and Founder of China Marketing Corp, @christinaxucmc
Christina started her career in Manchester for business development for the Greater China market from 2010. After two years, she moved into the agency side of business in international marketing from 2012.
During her career on the agency side, Christina established services for the company with major Chinese online digital platforms, such as Baidu, 360 Search, and Tencent. She also delivered a Yandex official training course in China, as a Yandex search marketing trainer. Christina regularly speaks at events sharing the best practices on how to avoid pitfalls when entering China.
Christina has continued to pursue her career in digital marketing and launched her own startup business in November 2017 in Leeds, with a specific focus on helping businesses to target the Chinese market.
Speaker: Sommer Croft, Programme Manager NHS Digital, @SommerCroft
Sommer is a mum to two gorgeous girls, and a Programme Manager for the NHS. She has worked in technical project management for 17 years, the last 13 of which have been within the NHS.
Sommer has led on the delivery of numerous technical projects, including one of the largest transfers of data that has ever taken place. She is passionate about her work within the NHS and the fact that through technology, patients’ lives can be saved and clinicians’ working lives can be improved.
She is an ardent advocate of Agile methodology; promoting user centred design and research within her organisation and teams.
Speaker: Arianne Donoghue, Paid Media Development Manager, Epiphany, @ArianneDonoghue
Our very own Arianne is Paid Media Development Manager here at Epiphany. Having started off her digital career client side 12 years ago, she’s worked for both agencies and brands in-house, specialising in paid media.
Arianne is now back agency side with Epiphany, and is a regular conference speaker and trainer, an awards judge and proud part of She Does Digital. She’s also a writer and editor for popular site State of Digital.
