After recently becoming engaged, I couldn’t resist writing a wedding-related blog post. I’m very excited about planning my wedding, but also a bit nervous about the amount of things I need to think about – budgets, guest lists, themes, and venues to name a few!
After recently becoming engaged, I couldn’t resist writing a wedding-related blog post. I’m very excited about planning my wedding, but also a bit nervous about the amount of things I need to think about – budgets, guest lists, themes, and venues to name a few! I’ve spent the last few weeks buying wedding magazines and reading online blogs for inspiration but I have also found a number of iPhone apps to help me. There are quite a few popular iPhone (and iPad) apps available for brides-to-be. Here are some of my favourites. And the best thing is that they are all free!
There are not many UK based wedding apps, but this is a great all in one planner for your wedding. The app allows you to build and manage your guest list, create a seating plan, budget and music. It also has a check list and a section for you to build your own to do list. Wedding UK also has a supplier list for all the services you may require from venues to dresses and flowers to fireworks! While the list isn’t exhaustive, it’s a great starting point.
I have loved using both the app and online version to find wedding inspiration. There are so many ‘wedding related’ boards with images of themes, venues, flowers, decorations and dresses. The app allows you to repin from other boards, but you can’t pin straight from your phone browser, yet!
Another great inspiration app is Wedding Gawker - an online gallery of real life weddings and inspirational images, submitted daily by wedding bloggers. Click on an image and be taken through to the blog to read the post behind the image.
The Knot – Wedding Dress Look Book
This app helps you find the wedding dress of your dreams. Search through thousands of dresses from classic ball gowns to modern fishtail dresses. I love that the apps allows you to filter results by body type, height, personality, wedding style and best features and the then save the best ones to your favourites list. The app also has a wedding dress information guide, with all you need to know about styles, fabrics and embellishments. Unfortunately, as this is a US app, it does not list any UK stockists. However this is a great app to discover your perfect style of dress.
This is a fairly simple app, which is great for keeping track of your budget and how much you have spent so far. You can split your budget out between various categories: bridal attire, ceremony, reception, flowers and decor etc. Pie chart graphs tell you what percentage of your budget has been spent. While this is a US app, budgets can be displayed in pounds too.
