Our latest roundup of things that win at the internet, including Jesus’ ugly younger brother, an invisibility cloak and some talking chins. In no particular order, here is our selection of things that got us going and ruined office productivity this fortnight. Enjoy! 1. Old lady botches painting restoration The story of a well-meaning Spanish lady who ‘restored’ a valuable church fresco of Christ and left it looking like something from Planet of the Apes. Terrible of course for history and culture, but brilliant comedy, especially in the hands of those nerdy meme-making folk. Ironically enough, the church is now being visited by more tourists than ever and the woman responsible is staking her claim for royalties. 2. Unlock the 007 in You The recent release of Skyfall set off a barrage of Bond themed ad campaigns. One of the best was Coke Zero’s viral video which gave unsuspecting citizens the chance to take on a Bond-like mission. 3. Invisibility Cloak Modern technology brings us one step closer to the magic of Harry Potter. But of course, there’s no picture to see. 4. The Chin Review The Chin Review has released its sixth episode! For anyone who hasn’t yet experienced the chin review I bestow this great gift upon you. In an age of advanced technology it is wonderful to know that so much happiness can be created with the application of some goggly eyes on an upside down chin. 5. Jam with Chrome Google moves band practise out of the garage and into the office with their new interactive web application Jam with Chrome. It allows users to play 19 different virtual instruments and invite their friends to join via social media. 6. Illusion A site dedicated to the most inventive and mind-blowing things in art and design. Some of my personal favourites are this optical illusion installation and a lamp that is a duck. 7. John Lewis Christmas advert Generally I’m a cynic when it comes to Christmas adverts, but John Lewis have caught me out here- maybe because of the resemblance to Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman. P.S. If you have never cried at the end of The Snowman, then you have no soul. 8. Awkward Christmas family photos The dark side to John Lewis’Christmas: Santa with a black eye, a man dressed as a baby and matching family onesies. 9. National Beard and Moustache championship The third annual National Beard and Moustache championships took place in Las Vegas on Sunday 12th November. Come marvel at their facial topiary. 10. Ring art performance Japanese ring juggler Ouka performing his fluid ring act. Strange and hypnotic.
