Cadbury spots vs stripes Olympics Campaign.

Although I still think it’s strange how many of the Olympic sponsors are companies who sell sugary drinks and unhealthy snacks, I do like the new ad campaign by Cadbury. To promote their sponsorship of the 2012 Olympic Games they are asking people to split into two sides (spots or stripes) to create the biggest game ever!

Whenever a user plays a game against someone from the opposite team, the winner scores a point for their team. You can play any game you like, either one of the suggestions on the website or make up your own (as long as it’s legal!) and submit the results via their website to get your points. There will also be a game of the week where you can win points for your team and prizes for yourself. Players can upload videos of their games and challenge entries to the spotsvstripes YouTube channel, follow them on twitter and join the Facebook group for their team. The campaign is certainly ambitious and as well as the online games it will also include a series of unusual challenges with prizes for the winners, big city takeovers and lots of events across the country (they will be in Leeds the 4-5th of September 2010). The campaign will be running until the games start so it will be interesting to see how they keep the momentum for that long. There is also a TV commercial set to launch on Saturday. The first challenge is up. So pick a side, reconnect with your inner child and get playing! Extreme tiddlywinks anyone?
