Leeds Digital Festival is already well underway and, this year, we’re proud to be taking part in a range of events!

It’s great for us to be able to support the largest digital festival in the North, sharing our knowledge and showcasing the amazing talent in our county!

Code in the dark

Code in the Dark was one of the festival’s first events. We hosted the event for the fourth year in a row, showcasing the varied development talent in our city.

The event saw 25 developers, competing in five heats, culminating in a nail-biting final in which the winners of each round competed against each other.

All of this in an intense party atmosphere, with electro music, lasers and smoke, all put there to put the contestants out of their comfort zone whilst livening up the crowd.

We’d like to congratulate this year’s winner, Brad Cornes. Brad is a web developer at Parallax, a digital agency in Leeds, and he managed to beat the other contestants in the hardest final round at Code in the Dark yet!

She Does: A day in digital

As well as showcasing development talent from across our region, we’re delighted to be founders of She Does Digital, a collective of people in Leeds who work in the digital industry.

They are extremely passionate about digital and the group’s mission is to encourage more women to pursue careers in the industry. This event is particularly significant for She Does Digital as the group was founded at Leeds Digital Festival four years ago!

She Does Digital will be hosting A Day in Digital on Tuesday 30th April, giving you the chance to find out more about what it’s like to be a digital professional and work for a top digital employer.

Want to find out more about what it’s like to be in their shoes for a day? At this event, you will gain valuable insight into their everyday working lives, how they got into the industry, what they love and what challenges they face every day.

She Does Digital will be inviting a range of interesting and talented individuals from across the Digital industry. Speakers include:

  • Annie Moss-Quate, Senior Product Manager at the BBC
  • Kelly Weston, Delivery Partner for Jaywing Brand Comms
