BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm of the BBC whose primary purpose is to bring value to the BBC in the form of profits and programme investment. They create, acquire, develop and exploit media content, and return all profits to the BBC to reinvest in their programmes and services.
BBC Worldwide operates a diverse portfolio of 22 channel brands, comprising of BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC HD. In the last financial year, the media company made profits of £103 million revenues of just over £1 billion and in April 2009 was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise!
