On 11 March 2011, the east coast of Japan was hit by one of the five largest earthquakes since records began. It inevitably preceded a tsunami which would go on to cause destruction and loss of life on a scale which seemed unimaginable even for an earthquake hub such as Japan. This infographic, created by @WengersToyBus, takes a look at the scale of the events.
